Shazam Shoutouts
#01 - a look into my recent music finds
Welcome to this little series called Shazam Shoutouts, where I share music that I hear in public that I like or sounds familiar.
I write this as I stand in a long line at Dunkin’ Donuts staring blankly at the menu as if I have never seen it before. I still ordered with panic when I got to the front.
I told a couple of people a year ago that I was going to give up red meat. It’s unhealthy, the poor animals, the cancer, etc. But I did just order a breakfast sandwich with bacon and THEN an extra side of smackin’ bacon. I also just completed the Venmo request from my roommate when we went out to eat and I ordered a 30-dollar skirt steak. So I’m not proud of any of my recent food decisions, but I might as well let you know now that I don’t always mean what I say.
Anyway here are some songs that I have Shazam’ed (??), Shazammed (??) recently.
Where was I? Dunkin’ Donuts. Top-tier EDM song, a classic.
Where was I? On Tik Tok. It was a sad Tik Tok, and then I binge-listened to the rest of his songs and was crying in the club for the next 2 days.
Where was I? A car passed outside my apartment, shaking my entire room. This song is so good. And then I heard it again on Tik Tok of course.
Where was I? I'm at the B & H camera store with my friends, trying out different headphones because I lost my earbuds recently. Charles Bradley was playing in one of the headphones we tried on. Goosebumps every time. SO damn good.
Where was I? Tik Tok (yes I am chronically online). Some edited version of it for sure. I saw Saweetie in concert once for this Black Student Union Convention I went to in college. Very random, but she’s so cute, I loved it. I can’t relate at all to the lyrics, I am FAR from doing rich shit activities but it’s okay.
Where was I? At Coney Island with my friends. I just grabbed overpriced dippin’ dots and went exploring the rides. I broke out into dance with my friend, and then someone asked if I wanted to be in their YouTube video, and I immediately panicked. I said no.
Where was I? At Coney Island again!! This song brought back memories. I was most definitely in elementary. I don't support Chris Brown, Rihanna may have forgiven but I haven’t... But shit, this song is SO good. I know every word.
